Palate
A generous wine, jam packed with fruit flavour, finishing tight with natural acidity and a lick of chewy French Oak.
Vintage Conditions
The lead up to the 2009 harvest in the Riverina was one of the best on record. Refreshing rains during Spring and mild December temperatures resulted in flavour intensity and superior acid structure. The end of January saw an unprecedented heat wave of 40 degrees plus for 14 days which resulted in delayed ripening - overall the vintage was good to excellent.
Winemaking
Premium fruit was selected for its excellent varietal expression and rich, ripe Chardonnay fruit characters. Clean fermentation in Stainless Steel was combined with fermentation on French Oak to facilitate complexity and palate definition. Chosen parcels were left on yeast lees for up to three months to lend texture and mouth feel.
Wine Analysis
Alc/Vol : 12.5% pH : 3.3 TA : 6.1 g/L
Cellaring
Excellent drinking upon release and will look smart for two-three years thereafter.
Suggested Cuisine
Try with Pan fried Tuna with Pomegranate Jus. Or if you?re adventurous, Bugs with Burnt Butter Sauce.
