La Francesa: The French Lady, In Spanish
Confused? So were we! In 2006 we planted a block of what we thought was Albarino, only to find out later it was actually the rare French varietal Savagnin (sah-vah-nyan) a white wine grape grown primarily in France's Jura region.
Wine Makers Comments
Picked on the 10th of March after near perfect growing conditions, the soft press juices were treated separately and cold fermented using selected yeast strains to preserve fruit character. La Francesa brings an enduring and richly layered palate full of earthy spice, pear and stone fruit and finishing with fresh citrus. This wine retains its wonderful natural fruit acidity.
Cooking
An intensely flavoured aromatic wine that pairs itself well to traditional Spanish and Mediterranean fare. A Perfect match of ours would be Paella, with grilled chorizo, saffron and fresh seafood.
