Maglieri Shiraz

Maglieri has long set the benchmark for winemaking in McLaren Vale, enjoying both national and international success over the past thirty years. Giovanni Maglieri arrived in McLaren Vale in 1958 from Italy, and began working in the McLaren Vale vineyards. Giovanni's son Steve followed him to Australiafive years later. In 1965 father and son bought 40 hectares of scrub in McLaren Vale, which led to their first planting of Italian varieties. By 1972 Steve had the foresight to start up his own winery that was to become Maglieri Wines.

One of Maglieri's great achievements has been a run of sensational successes at the London International Wine Challenge. Maglieri has twice beaten all comers, to be voted Best Shiraz of the competition. With the high quality of grapes from the estate vineyards, the emphasis during vinification is to preserve the quality of fruit. Malty and moreish, blackberried and liquorice, rich and ripe like a festive cake, a generous red equitable with the grandest editions of McLaren Vale Shiraz, with fully integrated oak, supported by the most polished tannins
