Nestled in the Adelaide Hills near Woodside, the Marlborough Park property was established over a century ago as a saddlery and riding school that continue operation today. Randal Tomich has raised vines alongside the horses, and the fruit of these vines has led to a refined new collection of wines. This range bears the name "Marlborough Park" in homage to their heritage.
Vineyard: The heart of the Hills: 26km due east of the Adelaide CBD. Sustainable organic approach.
High altitude: 400m above sea level. Cool-climate, temperature 8-10 degrees cooler than Adelaide.
Slow ripening: crisp, natural acidity, crunchy fresh fruit, complex cool-climate wines.
Region: 100% Adelaide Hills
Harvest: March 2009
Tasting Note: Rose petal and lychee on the nose, with hints of spice. The wine has very soft entry, flooding the mouth with the aforementioned flavours. It is luscious and rich yet achieves this without cloying.
Accompaniments: This elegant filly will tame the wildest of chilli beasts. Don't be fooled by its delicate aromas! challenge it and be rewarded.
