Stags Leap Napa Petite Syrah

Petite Syrah is a wine that has become synonymous with Stags Leap. The 30- year old Petite Syrah vineyards located in front of the Manor House on the estate?s deep, rocky soils form the backbone of this blend, to which we incorporate fruit from our established grower-partners throughout the Napa Valley. Each year Winemaker Kevin Morrisey combines these components into a classic blend that reflects the property?s ongoing commitment to the varietal.



Petite Syrah is a varietal that demands blending and diversity of vineyard site to achieve its full potential. For over three decades we have been working with Syrah, Mourv'dre, Grenache, Carignane, Peloursin, and Viognier as components for our Napa Valley Petite Syrah. The different varietals are co-fermented as much as is feasible, and the wine is then aged in small oak cooperage for a minimum of 18 months. Balance, complexity, structure, and elegance are the signature descriptors of this classic wine.



Expressive notes of cocoa powder, raspberry and lavender introduce this luscious and intensely fruity "petite syrah".



The palate follows with ripe black plum, black coffee, bittersweet chocolate and brown spice wrapped around structured tannins with juicy, berry flavors on the finish.
