Wolf Blass Black Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz Malbec

Wolf Blass Black Label is the flagship of the range. Since its first vintage in 1973, Wolf Blass Black Label represents the best possible red blended wine from the vintage, in the classic Wolf Blass style.

WINEMAKING
The majority of Cabernet Sauvignon and all of the Malbec were sourced from low yielding vineyards in the original Langhorne Creek floodplain region, contributing complex blackcurrant and eucalypt characters, elegance and finesse. The balance of Cabernet Sauvignon and parcels of Shiraz were sourced from the Barossa Valley, with the remaining Shiraz sourced from McLaren Vale, giving the wine warmth, opulence of fruit, richness and depth. Following crushing and de-stemming, each vineyard parcel was fermented separately for seven days on skins, allowing for the optimum release of colour and flavour without excessive extraction of tannin. The wine completed fermentation in new French and American oak barriques, maturing in these same barrels for 24 months.

The nose shows intense, lifted aromas of blackcurrant fruit, layered with underlying notes of coffee, dark chocolate and hints of mint. The palate is rich and full, with spicy bramble and plum flavours, integrated with notes of smoky oak. This wine shows exceptional complexity and balance, full, rich and opulent, yet fine and elegant with a persistence of flavour and supple, velvety tannins.
